Roman Forum (Foro Romano)

Largo Romolo e Remo, Rome, 00186

The Basics

The site is most often visited on three-hour tours that combine a visit to the ancient city with a Colosseum tour. Whether you choose a private tour or small-group tour, it's wise to visit with an expert guide who can help you navigate the large space and bring the ruins to life with true stories of gladiators, Roman emperors, and Julius Caesar. After your visit, check out the adjacent ruins at Circus Maximus or pay a visit to the Capitoline Museums to see the display of classical Roman empire sculptures.

Small-Group Colosseum Tour with Roman Forum & Palatine Hill
Very good guide, very knowledgeable and her English was excellent. We learn a lot about the Colosseum, and how it was built in how people lived at the time of the Colosseum various things that were presented at the Colosseum. Very interesting to her.

Super nice tour with an amazing passionate tour guide. She thought about making it as comfortable as possible and was funny too. Love how the most interesting parts of the colosseum and Palentine are combined.

Tour guide was great…amazing places to see. The only complaint was with the headphones. They were too big to fit in my ears..had to physically hold them in place.

Eugene is a very knowledgeable guide, gave us ample time to visit and take photos. Roman Forum is absolutely gorgeous and should be given at least 5 more minutes. You should take the tour if you are interested in learning about the colosseo
Informative, exciting, worth it!

Extremely knowledgeable guide, and such an extensive tour of 3 of the most amazing sites in Rome! We learned a lot, and definitely got our money’s worth. Skipping the line was also a HUGE plus—otherwise, we would’ve waited hours more! Would definitely recommend.

Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum Guided Tour | Skip the Line Tickets
The tour was pretty good. Our Russian tour guide Katerina was sweet and had great knowledge. The head sets did not work but she tried everything to make it work. I don’t know why the head sets didn’t work and we weren’t able to use them. The tour was pretty fast but she went threw everything in the colosseum and the roman forum but we did not have time for the palatine hill which was optional to go if we had time. Our kids learned a ton and she tried her best to make it fun for everyone.
Great sites and a very good guide.

Fun, informative guide. Had lots of history and fun tidbits. It was a long, uphill climb to Patentine, but the view and information were wirth it.

Discovering the Roman Forum Ruins

Inside the archaeological area, stick to the Forum’s main thoroughfare, Via Sacra, to pass by important ruins such as the Julia Curia and the house of the Vestal Virgins. Some of the forum’s most impressive ruins include the white marble arch of Settimio Severo, the first-century Arch of Titus, and the remains of the Basilica of Maxentius and Constantine. If you can’t get enough of ancient Rome, there’s plenty more history just outside the city with day trips available to Pompeii and the Appian Way.
