The Basics
Free tours of the exhibits at City Gallery Wellington run most weekends, and private tours are available for a minimum of 10 people. Meet around midday in the main foyer for a 35-minute introduction to the exhibitions. In addition to the carefully curated displays, the gallery offers dynamic educational programs. Its well-regarded Nikau Café is a popular meeting spot, serving brunch or lunch with organic produce and award-winning coffee.

How to Get There
City Gallery Wellington is located in Te Ngākau Civic Square near Jervois Quay on the waterfront, in the city center. The main entrance is via Civic Square, which can be accessed from Victoria and Harris streets, Customhouse Quay, or via the City to Sea Bridge. On-street parking is available nearby, and bike racks are located outside the café. Bus stops are situated within a short walking distance.

When to Get There
City Gallery Wellington is open daily 10am–5pm, until 10pm on the first Thursday of the month (February–November), and closed Christmas Day. The café is open on weekdays 7am–4pm, Fridays 7am until late, weekends 8am–4pm, and closed on public holidays.
A Family-Friendly Venue
Strollers and buggies are permitted at City Gallery Wellington, and a diaper-changing table can be found in the facilities on the ground floor. Family Day makes for a fun venture several times a year, while those with infants can take advantage of Gallery Babes once a month. The Reading Room is a quiet escape that features an Art Cart to engage young ones in their own creative pursuits.
