The Basics

Wairarapa’s main town, Martinborough, is a firm fixture on the wine-and-foodie gourmet trail. Wellington locals flock here on weekends to drop in to the cellars of surrounding vineyards, known for top-quality pinot noir, riesling, and chardonnay. Quad-bike rides, ropes courses, kayaking, and bushwalks get the adrenaline flowing. The North Island’s third-largest lake, Lake Wairarapa is a popular spot for fishing and bird watching.

Fantastic, personalized tour
Tom was a fantastic guide. Not only did he know the region, he was able to personalize what he talked about to our interests. We even took some side tours for additional LOTR scene spotting. I was most excited to see the seals and they didn't disappoint. Tom was enthusiastic and excited to share the area with us. When looking for a tour of the area definitely book with Kaewa Tours!

Private Wairarapa Wine Delights Tour from Wellington
Would definitely recommend! We went to three different wineries and a chocolate shop. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable of the area. She was prompt in picking us up and was an excellent driver. The tour was intimate and exactly what we were looking for. The wines were delicious! A must book if you’re in the area!!

Scenic South Wairarapa Full Day Tour from Wellington
Had an absolutely wonderful day with Tom Collier from Kaewa Tours exploring the Wairarapa region and south coast! Tom has thorough knowledge of the region and tailors the itinerary to the individual's interests, all the while supporting local business and opting for eco-friendly initiatives. Despite having to fit in plenty of activities and long road transfers, nothing felt rushed and Tom makes sure you're comfortable at each step. Warmly recommended!

Scenic South Wairarapa Full Day Tour from Wellington
I really enjoyed the whole day out but especially the honey tasting at Greytown Honey. The owner was very friendly and passionate about what she does and the different honeys were. Lunch at the winery was also amazing. However the Palliser lighthouse was the crown topper for me because I was intimidated by the steep steps but made it to the top which really felt amazing and was a great way to end the day.
