Wellington Cable Car

Lambton Quay, Wellington, 6160

The Basics

The recognizable red cable car transports passengers from the central city to the Wellington Botanic Garden and its uninterrupted views. At the top, explore the gardens and the historic Bolton Street Cemetery, learn more about the history of the cable car and Wellington at the Cable Car Museum, walk to the nearby Carter Observatory to check out the full-dome planetarium, or head into nearby Kelburn for lunch and boutique shopping.

You can ride the cable car independently or as part of an organized sightseeing excursion that hits Wellington’s highlights.

Excellent value
The whole trip was very interesting and informative and Peter took us to places we wouldn't have seen if we did it ourselves, especially considering the bad weather
