  • Due a lot of traffic at the dock, I can't wait more than 5 minutes. Please make sure you are at the dock 10 minutes before departure.
  • A fairly big step needs to be taken to get in the boat. Of course we will assist you.
  • Beware all my boats are open. So when it rains, you can get wet. But rebooking with rain is always possible
  • I always try to give the best tour possible (5*). But in rare occasion things don't go as you and me would like. Please let me know asap. Aither direct or send me an email of text. I will contact you.
  • The tour is a historical canal cruise, it is not a booze cruise. So if you are looking for a bachelor party boat or any other booze cruise, this is not the cruise for you.
  • Captain Jack is collaboration between friends. Captain Jack is not perse himself on the boat.
  • There are two startinglocations. Check your ticket and/or comfirmation for the right starting point!
  • There is no toilet on the boat.
  • Beware the dock is shared with another company. They wear Orange shirts, please make sure you don't board on their boat even if they say so. Our Team wears Pink or white.
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 20 travelers

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

You can't do Amsterdam and miss the canals by water!

The canals are overflowing with possible tour boats each with its own unique flair. This tour was our first introduction to Amsterdam, complete with Heineken and cheese. We learned a lot about the history of the canals, the architecture of the surrounding buildings, and the traditions of the Dutch people all in the comfort of a well handled craft.

A great way to start a stay in Amsterdam - getting an overall feel and sense of location of the city. Our tour guide ( forgot his name but it was the 9/17, 4pm cruise) was cheerful, pleasant and a walking encyclopedia of all things Amsterdam!). The size of the cruise was not overcrowded so you did not feel like cattle being herded in. Another plus is being in an open air boat- you could feel more connected to what you were seeing and experiencing than in a larger covered boat we saw on the canals. Give them an A+!

Eric our captain was awesome. Very corgal. The snacks, cheese, sausages, crackers, cookies, licorish, beer, wine, sodas, water were great. Umbrellas were provided for the brief downpour we had. We stayed dry under bridges. The highlights were informative and appreciated. Highly recommended !!

The tour was on time and the staff were very accomodating. There was unlimited wine, soft drinks, cheese and crackers on board. The guide pointed out some historical buildings and information. We arrived at the wrong location for our cruise but Viator were very accomodating and put us on a cruise an hour later.

The captain was fun and entertaining. The boat ride was also, very entertaining. They served wine and soda, which was fine. But the snack’s instead of using pick used their hands.

Captain Jack's Canal Cruises had the best reviewed and we weren't disappointed. Misha (aka Mouse) was our guide and he had a great sense of humor on top of being able to give all of the insights about Amsterdam that we wouldn't have otherwise had a chance to learn. The docking point was super easy to find and the boat was perfect, with lots of snacks and drinks. We had a great time, 1.5 hours was the perfect amount of time, and we would absolutely recommend it to any tourists stopping through. We also stopped by Moeder's, which Misha recommended - and loved it.

This trip was excellent… many boat companies out there and most look the same. But what makes it excellent is the captain, and Brook was both entertaining and informative. He is the reason I came away with more knowledge of the Dutch and Amsterdam… while feeling I had just been on casual summer cruise!

First day in Amsterdam (Sept 6th) and wanted to see the sights from the Canal. Our guide was really excellent. Told stories about why buildings were so tall but narrow. Amazing start to an amazing time in Amsterdam. It's a must do... and psst we spoke to one of the other Canal operators. He told us Captain Jacks is the best by far and we agree.

The guide Onno was great and went out of his way to show us some cool stuff. He was very knowledgeable about beautiful Amsterdam. I had a great time on this excursion. I met nice people on board as well. Wine, cheese, candy and soft drinks were all nice touches.
