What To Expect

While your cruise ship is docked in Auckland, enjoy a city sightseeing tour followed by wine tasting on Waiheke Island. Start your full-day shore excursion with pickup at the port, then be whisked away to Auckland’s city center where you’ll motor past key landmarks in the ‘City of Sails.’

Your guide points out Quay Street, the Harbour Bridge, Queen Street, Auckland University, Auckland Museum, and Dominion Parks and Garden. Discover Auckland’s island-sprinkled harbours — Viaduct Harbour and Waitemata Harbour — surrounded by the cones of dormant volcanoes, and learn of the city’s geographical and cultural features as your guide follows the waterfront route along scenic Tamaki Drive.

After lunch in the Viaduct Harbour area (own expense), it’s time to taste some of New Zealand’s award-winning wines. Ride the local Fullers Ferry across the Hauraki Gulf to Waiheke Island, a top-notch North Island destination.

After a 40-minute cruise, your guide meets you at the pier and escorts you to three acclaimed wineries: Mudbrick Vineyard, the Goldie Room on Goldie Vineyard and Te Whau Vineyard. Sample premium wines against a picturesque backdrop of the Hauraki Gulf and Coromandel Peninsula.

Upon returning to Auckland’s waterfront by ferry, you’re transferred back to the cruise terminal.

Do not book if on a cruise !
Barry_E, Dec 2019
This tour operator was kind enough to verify that the wine tour would not get us back in time to get on board ! We did the city tour and harbor cruise . City tour pretty boring ...harbor cruise ok but so rough we were unable to do regular itinerary.
Response from Host, Dec 2019
As advertised the tour return time from Waiheke for this excursion is 5.30 pm. Obviously if your cruise ship has a scheduled departure for 6 pm or earlier you should not book this excursion. Most cruise ships depart Auckland at 7.00 pm or later, in which case this option is completely fine!
The city tour was excellant, great...
Leslie K, Feb 2018
The city tour was excellant, great commentary. The Waiheke Island wine tour was questionable, the bus air did not work, the driver had the door open for cooling, not very efficient. One of the vinards had a tour which was very good but for people that have trouble walking it was not good. Steep steps and no hand rails. The bus drive left something to be desired also.
