What To Expect

Following morning pickup at your Las Vegas hotel, board a luxury motorcoach and head for the Hoover Dam.

Upon arrival, embark on the Discovery Tour, which includes an exploration of several areas. In the Exhibit Gallery, view displays on the region’s natural history and the operational history of the dam. Wander through murals, maps, and displays on the Theatre Level that document the history of the Hoover Dam. Watch 'How the West was Won', a short video that details the Bureau of Reclamation’s part in growing food and taming the rivers and the desert. Ride an elevator 500 feet (152 meters) down into the Black Canyon’s walls and walk through the 250-foot (76-meter) tunnel drilled out of rock. Visit the eight generators in the Nevada wing of the power plant. 

Leave the dam and continue to Lake Mead Marina. Board the Desert Princess, a paddle-wheel steamboat and your chariot for the tour of Lake Mead. Enjoy views of the dam from this aquatic vantage point as you dig into a deli-style lunch. 

At the conclusion of your lake outing, climb back aboard the motorcoach and head back to your Vegas hotel. Stop at the Ethel M Chocolate Factory and (if time allows) the 'Welcome to Las Vegas' sign for a photo op.

Canceled on me the same day. Hours before getting to our pick up location we had our lake med princess cruise portion canceled. We called them FIVE TIMES the day BEFORE to confirm and they didn't say a word. The manager said she tried calling me the day before. There was no call coming in on my caller id or even a voicemail. Yet she answered my 5 calls and didn't think to tell me that she was going to cancel that portion from us. We've been to the grand canyon and hoover Dam. Only reason why we booked this particular activity is because we never been to the Lake. She stated they only open Thursday and Saturday. I went to their website and they are open every day. Another lie.... So disappointed. Their lack of courtesy is extremely inconvenient for tourists.

This was a great tour! Unfortunately, The Hoover Dam was having issues with their elevators, so we stood in line for most of the tour and were worried we wouldn't get to see the power plant, but our tour guide stayed the extra time needed so that we all could complete the tour. My husband and I were very satisfied with the tour.

The dam tour was fantastic. We had a lovely day. Our tour guide was absolutely awesome she kept us well informed at all times and made us all smile. Highly recommend this trip and company.
Waste of a day

Our boat cruise got cancelled due to mechanical reasons and it was too windy to risk it. We got on the boat had a quick lunch and were told we'd be refunded for the boat cruise. Our bus driver picked us up and took us to the Hoover Dam. Thing is it was unbelievably windy that day and we thought it might have been cancelled anyways- and we could have planned something else so the whole day was wasted. We've already seen the Hoover Dam. Not impressed that Viator has not returned my email about getting said refund for at least the cruise portion of our entire wasted day. Its been almost a month.

We had a wonderful time on the lake cruise and at the Hoover Dam. Enjoyed stopping at the famous Las Vegas sign and at the chocolate factory. All of the employees were very polite. I would highly recommend this tour. A great value.

A big bus dropped off half the people at Lake Mead. Were loaded on the boat, only to be told they could not take us out. Viator gave a credit for it quickly. Hoover Damn tour was good. Bus was so so. Not a wow trip. Driver was not the best guide, played a tape telling us how much to tip...we did but truly wasn't worth as much as suggested!

The Lake Mead Cruise was lovely and informative. Don't expect a gourmet lunch, a soggy sub and chips is about all you will get. The crew was very accommodating, the bartender made a great margarita. The Hoover Dam tour was relaxing and enlightening. We could have spent more time at the dam and less time at our stop at Ethel M' s Chocolate Factory. There was definitely not enough time to take everything in. Another hour would have been appropriate. Our driver was exceptional. I liked the fact that the hint for a tip came from a recording so that the driver did not have to grovel.

Didn’t get to go to the chocolate factory or the sign. Many ppl on the bus complained of the same problem. Not sure what happened. Could have been because we were delayed because of bus issues(although we were told we were still on time). Although some others voiced their questions about not stopping at the other places, the driver said it was a different tour. Clearly we booked this specific tour but didn’t get the full tour. Even the pre-recorded message stated doing the Dam tour first then lunch, that was switched but made off to be it was normal. Understandable that problems happen, but you should just be upfront and compensate accordingly. Sam the driver was great though!
Missed the boat!

Unfortunately, my party and I did not tale the Hoover Dam Tour. We were onsite to catch the tour bus, but we were unable to identify the bus. So it left without us. We were very disappointed; however, Viator was gracious enough to give us a 50% refund.
Boring and pushed

I found the tour and tour guide were hurried and brief especially after visiting the Glen Canyon dam earlier on our vacation. It was like we were a burden to the guide and pushed through like cattle. Glen Canyon dam tour was very informative, relaxed and fun. The tour guide nice and not pushy even though they were on a tight schedule also. The tour was given both on top of the dam and inside and was narrated nicely. The Hoover Dam tour was 1/10 that of the tour of Glen Canyon's, which surprised me (thinking that Hoover would be more popular?). I think you need to tour Glen Canyon dam and take some tips from them! Very unhappy with your tour! .

It was a day I’d sooner forget. We made it to the hover dam, but that’s where the tour pretty much ended. The boat was having problems. And we were told it was something that just happened. From the comments on line it wasn’t working before. False advertisement!

The tour itself was great - inside the dam and the lake cruise. Getting there and getting home was troublesome. We were picked up at our hotel at 9:00, transferred to the Grayline terminal and herded around until our bus left at 10:00. Then we had to make a stop at a chocolate factory (waste of time). Our driver (Tony) was a good tour guide and driver, but his broken English was hard to understand and therefore his instructions were confusing - leaving passengers not knowing where to go and what time to be back. On the way home we were the first ones off the bus, but I pity the other 48 passengers that had to go to multiple hotels to let people off. A long day (9:00 to 6:00) for a an 90 minute tour and 90 minute cruise. I would suggest looking for a direct/express tour that picks you up, goes directly to the dam, and then straight back to the hotel.

Tours were really wonderful, but the tour bus company picked us up earlier than needed (wasted time at both the bus terminal and before boarding the noon ferry), dropped us off late, and had problems with the P.A. system on the bus--very unfortunate!
A Disappointing Hoover Dam visit

We have just returned from our tour to Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Our day started out meeting the tour bus at New York New York for 9 am. We waited there for a couple who finally arrived 15 minutes late because they were told the wrong information for where to meet. This was the beginning of a day not as we had hoped or planned. We got to the terminal and someone from the Tour Company explained how the tour would unfold. As we lined up to get on our bus the same gentleman announced the tour was overbooked by 2 people and he wanted two people to change their plan so they would do only the Hoover Dam and they would go in a limo. Nobody showed any interest. We had all booked and planned our tour in advance so why would anyone want to change their plan at that point? The Tour company should not have overbooked and thus would have avoided the problem. We wasted more time waiting for someone to volunteer to change plans. We finally got on our bus and met a lovely driver named Tony. If it hadn’t been for Tony the day would have been much worse. He is truly an informative and entertaining driver and guide. He was the highlight of our day. Our stop at the Chocolate Factory was uneventful. We got to Lake Mead and boarded the boat. Lunch was very nice. My husband and I sat with some people who had driven themselves to the Hoover Dam in the morning. They told us at that point, 12:00, that there were no tours at the Dam because the elevators were not working. This prompted discussion among our tour group as to what that would mean for us. We mentioned it to Tony when we got back on the bus and he had heard nothing about it. We carried on to the Dam only to find the elevators were down. They had been down when the Dam opened that morning. According to one of the employees they knew when they got to work that there would be no tours. We were also told that they put that out on Social Media and notify tour groups. They commented that we were the first tour bus of the day. To us that’s a clue that everyone else knew and canceled. We went into the Visitors Centre for the movie and spent some time wandering around. The tour of the actual Dam was going to be the highlight of the tour for us. My husband retired from the power industry and was looking forward to seeing the workings of this amazing Dam. Needless to say we were very disappointed when Tony confirmed there would not be a tour. We boarded the bus and headed back to LV. Tony had 22 hotels to drop people off at their individual hotels. This took forever. Not a good way to end an already disappointing day! I look forward to your response to my concerns/questions. 1. How is it that someone staying in the same hotel we were in could have been given the wrong pick up information?. 2. You overbooked your tour and that impacted our time. Not our problem! 3. Why is it that the staff knew the elevators were not working at the Dam and we could arrive there and no one notify Tony? The parking lot being totally empty was a clue that someone knew! 4. I look forward to receiving my refund x 4 guests for the cost of the Dam tour.
