Overview

On the outskirts of Vegas, once the neon lights fade and the sound of traffic is replaced by the rush of the wind, the Valley of Fire is a geologic wonder that’s best explored on two feet. On this Valley of Fire hiking excursion, marvel at Native American petroglyphs that are believed to be 3,000 years old, and enjoy the multihued desert scenery in Nevada’s oldest state park. Pass Lake Mead and the Moapa Indian Reservation. This small-group tour has a variable duration—depending on the difficulty of hike you choose.
  • Choose an easy, moderate, or difficult guided hike among the red rock formations and petroglyphs
  • Keep your energy up with complimentary snacks and water
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off included

Pickup details

Pick up will be at your hotel or a hotel relatively close. You will be contacted 1-2 days before your reservation date to confirm pick up time and exact location. If you are staying at a hotel or rental home away from the strip or downtown you will be asked to go to the nearest Strip or Downtown hotel property.

What To Expect

Depending upon which option you choose, this Valley of Fire hiking tour either leaves Las Vegas at sunrise, or later in the day in the late morning or early afternoon. Once you meet with the rest of your group, which won’t exceed 13 people, leave the lights of Vegas behind and begin to commune with nature, as you travel out into the wide-open desert.

Along the drive, make a stop at the Moapa Indian Reservation to pick up some fireworks, liquor, or cigarettes that are completely duty-free.

When you enter the Valley of Fire State Park, your guide explains the area’s history as well as its fascinating geology, and leads you to the trailhead of whichever hike you’ve chosen.

Over the course of the trek through the park, learn about the erosion and seismic fault lines that have created the rugged terrain, all while surrounded by a surreal landscape of enormous, deeply red rocks. For thousands of years, Native American-Indian tribes have lived and survived in this landscape, and your guide offers some fascinating insight to their legends, history, and myths, as well as point out some ancient petroglyphs that have been here for 3,000 years.

Water and snacks are provided for the hike, and once you’ve conquered the dusty trail and soaked up the epic beauty, you have the chance to explore the Valley of Fire official visitors center. On the car ride back to Las Vegas, rest your legs and watch the scene slowly change outside the window, as the windswept desert slowly gives to the glitz, glamor, and lights.

What a lovely hiking experience it was! We were three hikers on the easy trail with Nick as the Guide. It was simply fantastic. Nick is an awesome Guide and knows the trails inside out. He hiked us through some breathtaking rock formations. I would definitely try out the medium trails next time. Nick is great. He answered all our questions patiently. It was a joy to be on this trail. It is gorgeous. And hiking with a small group was such a good experience. I would do it again for sure.

Incredible hike no words just have to be there to understand. Going through those mountains, learning about geography and history and getting nice workout.
I am glad we did this tour.

Our tour guide, Yvette, is wonderful. She is very knowledgeable about and clearly loves the Valley of Fire and hiking in general. She motivated us to go a little beyond what we perceived to be our comfort zone, and when we did, the results were empowering! And we got great photos!! : ) I highly recommend this tour.

Laura was our guide and she was just awesome! Catered for everyone and shared her secret little places. Valley of Fires is stunning area and I could easily have spent all day there.
Great hike and amazing views!

We had a great time hiking in the Valley of Fire. We did the moderate hike. We are in our 50's but kept up with the younger couple that hiked with us. A few times I was really out of my comfort zone. We hiked and climbed up the rocks. We were up so high I wasn't sure how I was going to get back down. I was really impressed with myself doing this hike and doing something so far out of my comfort zone. Our guide was great! He made sure everyone had plenty of water and snacks. He was very accommodating! I would definitely recommend this tour!
Great time

My wife and I booked one of your hikes while in Vegas for her birthday. Our Guide Trevor was fantastic, he really knew the history in the valley of fire and was extremely personable and fun. We had a fantastic time and would definitely consider booking again on our next trip to Vegas. Thanks Trevor for the great time and lasting memories! Regards, Natasha and Phillip

A nice treat to get away from the noise of the strip. Our guide Mason was delightful. Very knowledgeable and easy going. Everything felt very organic. This was so fun to explore the valley of fire. We liked our small group, got to learn everyone's name quickly and had a very fun time. 100% recommend.

Great experience.

Our wonderful understanding guide Nick. All my compliments to him for his support of a senior who had recently had a hip replacement and been absent for a couple years from hiking. The scenery was wonderful and his knowledge of the area outstanding. Hiking experience is a must however.
Gorgeous views and great memories
Michelle_B, Apr 2023
Highly recommended tour. Our guide Nick was fun to travel and hike along with! He was knowledgeable of the site where we learned some local history and about some of the animal and plant life. Had some good laughs and conversation. We took a moderate hike and as someone slightly out of shape it was a perfect challenge. Pictures do not do it justice in the slightest. The most stunning views we’ve ever seen.
Good place

I loved everything about this hike. I did the intermediate one and I didn't want it to stop. Our guide Nick was knowledgeable and personable. We saw beautiful rock formations, some of which we scrambled over 😄, petroglyphs and plants. I definitely would recommend.
A great hike with Matthew

We accidentally signed up for the “intense” hike through the Valley of Fire. Matthew our guide was very patient, encouraging, and knowledgeable. He knew a lot about local plants and animals in the area and he was very good about making sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. This hike was strenuous but very very enjoyable!
Amazing views
