Bring your snorkel gear so you can snorkel from black sands beach

It was a very long day, but well worth it, Beautiful waterfalls and landscape.

I definitely recommend the Road to Hana tour with a guide as the roads were narrow, curvy and rough for someone unfamiliar with the area.

Disappointing Experience

We did not have a good experience. We had our travel agent book a Road to Hana tour through Viator with you. On Sunday March 5th we received an email from Viator that our Road to Hana trip on March 8th was cancelled. So, we booked a different Road to Hana tour for March 7th. When we returned from our March 7th Road to Hana tour, we got a text message about picking us up for the Road to Hana tour on March 8th. We told them we had been told the trip was cancelled. They said they didn't cancel the trip and the tour was non-refundable. So, we have paid for a tour we didn't go on. I'm very unhappy with the experience.

We had such a good time! Our tour guide, Tom, was amazing and so knowledgeable. We were able to get out and take pics and check out all of the popular spots. Be careful if you get motion sickness, the roads are narrow and windy!!

We were touring Hawaii with a Collette tour group. Collette organized a Road to Hana side tour. However, it was full when we checked into it. We really wanted to do the Road to Hana tour. So - we made a reservation on our own through Viator. Our guide was very nice and personable. However, we stopped at too many retail places and not enough scenic places. The last half of the loop was the best part of the loop. The black sand beach was our favorite stop. It would have been nice to stop at the Lava Tube that one could crawl up through. The Collette group Hana tour stopped there and said that it was amazing. Lunch was very lacking.

Our driver, Heavenly, was amazing. She was interesting, funny, a very good driver on the extremely twisty and narrow Road to Hana and showed us some extra things along the way. Such as Charles Lindbergh's grave, a local ice cream stand, honey bee farm and even led me through a lava tube, which was fascinating! Only complaints, which have nothing to do with the driver, would be not enough time at black sand beach park area and no time to swim there or at the waterfall area as advertised in the tour description. Otherwise, it was a topnotch tour that we would recommend to anyone.
