What To Expect

Your Maui kayak and snorkeling tour begins in the heart of Makena—a volcanic, historic section of coast that held numerous ancient villages. While paddling along the rocky coast, hear the tales of early explorers and their impact on Native Hawaiians, and keep an eye out for Hawaiian Green sea turtles as they swim and surface for air.

Once you reach a protected cove, link up the kayaks and splash in the water for the chance to snorkel with sea turtles, also passing through colorful schools of indigenous tropical fish.

After 2.5 hours of playing in the ocean, lace up your boots and take a hike through remnants of Old Hawaii. Walk through the site of Maui’s last lava flow from 220 years ago, and along with a native cultural guide, explore Hawaiian sites and ruins still dotted along the coast.

Tour guides were very friendly and highly knowledgeable about what we were doing as well as many interesting stories of the island. Justin was our kayak guide and had no problem teaching 1st timers how to kayak and snorkel off of the kayak. We swam with several sea turtles. It was amazing. Our hiking guide, Pasco, took us for our hike through Twin Falls. He had no problem jumping in the water and taking pictures for guests. He cut open fresh fruit to share with the group which was wonderful and shared many facts about the environment, plants, fruit and animals in the rain forest.

Perfect sampling of all three activities in one day!
Debra_P, Jul 2022
This was a great sampling of all three activities. We were able to kayak in the ocean to two different snorkeling spots, snorkel and view sea turtles with Cody and then depart for a hike to two different waterfalls with Tim. Both guides were awesome! They were attentive and informative. You get just enough of each activity all in one day. Definitely worth it!

Kayak fun, snorkeling, hike and waterfalls. What a day!

Our kayak guide was amazing. He swam with us and photographed our group with sea turtles and even brought us up 2 harmless urchins to touch and educated us with them. He of course quickly returned them to the reef.
Waterfall Hike and Kayak Snorkel and Paddle Review
Karen_W, Jul 2019
Overall comment is that both the kayak ride and the hike were on the short side. Would have enjoyed longer. Unusual event happened after the hike, a rapidly spreading brush fire prevented our hike guide and driver Eddie from getting us back to our cars as the roads were closed. He really went above and beyond by delivering us all to our hotels/time shares. Had to go the next day by bus the long journey to collect the car, but without Eddie we would have been stranded.

Viator was a problem; the tour was good. We did not know where we were going and did not know what to bring. The hike ends with a walk through a knee-deep stream with a rocky bottom. We did not know what footwear to bring and cut our feet. Do not use Viator. Contact the activity provider.

The waterfall hike was fabulous! Definitely recommend it. Our guide, Ashley, from Hike Maui was great! The kayaking was a lot of fun also. It's a great way to see all the wonderful things Maui has to offer! It's an exhausting day, but it was also one of our best days there!

This tour is well worth the money. We saw many turtles while snorkeling not far from shore. We were given plenty of time in the water. From there we were driven to a place to go hiking in the rainforest. What an amazing hike. Our tour guide was very informative and gave us plenty of time to enjoy our surroundings. Lunch was excellent, especially since we ate sitting by a beautiful waterfall.

This was a wonderful day and I cannot say enough good things about it. Unfortunetly the wind was blowing so we relocated from Lahiana to Makena Landing for the kayaking and snorkelling but was not disappointed. Our guide, Gerimia was a lot of fun and very knowledgeable and we were lucky enough to see several turtles including a baby and it was a wonderful experience. The water there is so clear and such delightful shades of blue and the sealife was plentiful and amazing to see. I had never kayaked on the ocean before and will enjoy this activity again for sure.I appreciated all the tips and instructions we were given to make our experience that much better. Jake from HikeMaui then met us at the beach where we followed him to a parking lot and then hopped in the van for a wonderful, informative trip to Twin Falls. Jake, being a native Hawiian, had an amazing knowledge of the island and the history and he made the tour for sure. We were a small group of 6, but I am sure we all were so appreciative of all that he knew and of course, his wonderful, easy, sense of humor. I would take another tour with him anytime. Once we were at the falls, we had the option to swim and jump off the cliffs into the water and he was so keen and helpful. You could tell, he loves what he does. We visited two fall sights and we were all sorry when our tour was over and we had to head back. Jake even chopped up some sweet pinapple for all of us to enjoy and lunch was very good. This trip was a great balance of water and land experiences and I would recommend it to anyone. I am sure all the guides are amazing, but I would be sure to try to book with Jake anytime I could. Thanks so much V Nelson - Alberta, Canada
