Overview

The small, crescent-shaped island of Molokini is an extinct volcanic crater with a thriving coral reef, home to more than 250 species of fish and 38 species of coral. Hop aboard a 54-foot, single-deck catamaran and jump in the water for a snorkel at the Turtle Arches reef. Then, cruise around Molokini's rugged, red rock back wall, home to a variety of seabirds. The best snorkeling experience!

Great tour with expert staff! They answered all questions and were eager to help guide the tour and history of the island and sea life. They also support a worthy cause researching and helping marine life and conservation.

Seeing all the sea life up close was incredible. We raced with dolphins in front of the boat. Even saw a mongoose seal. Swimming with Turtles was definitely a highlight. Crew was great. Food was great. Fun was had by all.

Unfortunately sometimes, ocean conditions such as swell, wind chop or previous rain can impede shoreline clarity. We hope that you enjoyed your overall experience, but understand your disappointment in not seeing any green sea turtle. Sometimes Mother Nature or wildlife can make it challenging, but we do appreciate your feedback and hope you will visit the island again and be able to see some of the wonderful green sea turtles found in our waters. Crew is great! Food is good. I love that some of the proceeds go to further whale research! The snorkeling spots weren’t as good as I had hoped. I saw a good number of the local fish, but the water wasn’t as clear as I’ve experienced in the past. I wouldn’t recommend renting the cameras, unless you can see the screen well. I got a few good photos, but not many. But some are better than none. You definitely felt well taken care of and the overall experience was great!

Well-run eco-tour

If you are traveling to Maui, you must take the time to snorkel in Molokini, as the coral and water clarity are excellent (go with reef-safe sunscreen please)! The crew had everything planned well for everyone on this adventure, i.e. meals, wet suits, a floating pad if you were nervous about snorkeling. This group is also ecologically minded and some of the proceeds seem to go towards conservation of whale species. This is exactly what we were looking for on our vacation.

I was skeptical of booking this as there are so many open snorkel spot in Maui but the whole experience of this tour is worth it. You’ll be served good food and drinks, and be taken to amazing spots to see exceptional marine life. They make the journey to the spots also interesting by sharing really cool facts and knowledge about the Maui reefs and marine life. If you are in two minds right now, don’t worry! You’ll leave the boat smiling 🙂

The water was perfect in both snorkeling locations and the crew made it fun and easy the entire day. Both captain and crew were fun and eager to help with questions or anything else we needed. The food they provided was delicious too. We also loved this is run by a non profit.

We are celebrating our anniversary and spent the day on the boat. It was beautiful and more than enough time at both locations. Weather was outstanding. The water was extremely clear. Crew was super friendly as well as the food they served. It was a breakfast snack of banana bread and fresh fruit. Then lunch was a delicious chicken sandwich.

The crew was beyond awesome and truly considered any possible need to have a great experience. For me, this trip hit home the purpose of the Pacific Whale Foundation, which is to preserve our sea life. I took this same trip 30 years ago…what a change. From an overly abundant coral reef brimming with sea life to such scarcity in comparison. Support this organization and their wonderful crew by taking this excursion. You won’t be disappointed.

I would recommend this experience to everyone without question. Up front, they were on time, clean, and friendly. IN ADDITION to that, they offered prescription goggles, they had floatation devices for all levels of swimming ability, they offered Sun screen for purchase (in case yours runs out on the water.. which ours did), and they rented wet suit tops for anyone who thought the water temp might be a little uncomfortably cold. They were friendly, the food was great, and they shared education about the Hawaiian culture and marine life. I cannot say enough to convey what a positive experience this was. I live in Oahu and have had many hood and bad experiences with a number of companies that do tours a multiple islands … this hands down was the most positive and memorable of them all. Mahalo and Aloha Pacific Whale Foundation!
