What To Expect

On the day of your surf lesson, meet at Kalama Park, which is centrally located in Kihei by local shops and restaurants. This area is known as the heart of surfing on Maui’s south side. You'll want to show up a little bit before your actual lesson time to check in. Your departure time depends on which style lesson you chose.

Your lesson begins with a warm welcome from your instructor. He or she gets you suited up in a rash guard, reef shoes, and a surf board, of course. Then, he or she shows you the ropes with a brief safety instruction.

Afterward, it’s time for your land lesson. Whether you’re a beginner surfing for your first time or an experience surfer, there’s always something to get out of a lesson. Instructors cater to your level, and make sure you feel comfortable on the board before setting you up to catch some waves.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Good location for us as...

Good location for us as beginners. We enjoyed the instructors. They were very helpful and patient. Definitely need the booties they provide due to rocks on bottom.

Our instructors were great! We had varying skill levels, and the instructors worked one-on-one with each of us, based on our skill level. I highly recommend Waves Surf School. You will have a wonderful time!

Our teenage boys loved it! They had only surfed once before, and the instructor had them up on long rides in no time. They said there were sea turtles swimming with them as they surfed. Amazing!
