Travel with a small group to three or four separate wineries in Napier. This 6-hour tour introduces you to a range of varietals including a glass of wine and chef's platter lunch at the Mission Estate Winery, followed by Church Road Winery (during the winter season), Urban Winery including optional craft beer tasting. Finish with wine, cheese, and crackers out amongst the vines.

We pick up from all hotels and motels and private locations and airBnB in the greater Napier area.

What To Expect

You're picked up around noon by 13 seat minibus for the Gourmet luncheon including afternoon wine tour of Napier. The 6-hour itinerary begins with a gourmet platter at the Mission Estate Winery where you can select a wine from the estate range to pair with your chef's platter.

Next up is Urban Winery, which features premium hand-crafted wines. You have the option of selecting 3 craft beers from their menu.

We then travel to the Esk Valley to Linden Estate vineyard where your guide accompanies you into the vineyard and explains the process of grape growing and vineyard management. Wine cheese & biscuits will be severed out amongst the vines during the summer season.

We then travel to Linden Winery to taste wines predominantly made from grapes your guide personally planted more than a dozen years ago.

You will then be returned to your hotel or pick up location around 5:30pm.

Lunch up at the Mission is a special experience, especially on a sunny day. And yes chardonnay is the varietal that this region does best, and house guests to our place know only to bring along a bottle of chardonnay.

A thoroughly enjoyable trip. We were picked up by Gary and driven to meet with others taking part in lunch at The Mission. Here we met Ross, had an excellent tasting and brilliant lunch. All of the venues offered something different and the tour ended with a very sociable cheese and wine under the shade of trees in a vineyard! Excellent value for money!

This was our first winery tour we've ever been on, and it couldn't have gone any better! The guides were extremely thoughtful - they had split us up from the other group which had booked on the same tour that day as they were a larger group and so the guides thought we would be uncomfortable. We had a lovely trip around 4 different wineries had the Chef's Platter at the first winery and snack at the third and the guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the wineries and the city. Brilliant, everyone on the tour was talkative and friendly, the guy running it is extremely knowledgeable, welcoming and informative. The evening spot on the summit is a brilliant experience. I'd recommend to anyone. My only point would be that the tour bus is not the most wheelchair accessible.

This tour packed a lot into one afternoon. Pickup at hotel by Ross was bang on time and as only two of us were booked that day, it amounted virtually to a private tour, and an excellent one at that. We visited four wineries - Mission Estate, Church Road, Esk Valley and Linden Estate. Wine tastings at each were presented by friendly and informed staff - in total I tasted 21 wines though not all were consumed! - be prepared for a good deal of well-mannered spitting if you are to survive the afternoon! We had very pleasant charcuterie platter lunch in the delightful surrounds of Mission Estate. The wine tasting themselves were satisfying enough, but for us the highlight of the afternoon was the guided tour by Ross, steeped in first hand experience of vine growing in Hawkes Bay and a fount of knowledge on the vines and wines. Not only that, as a substantial bonus for us, he proved to be a fund of knowledge about local bird life and took a number of diversions to show us some of the hidden gems around Ahoriri - I'm glad I brought my binoculars! A great day out - highly recommended.
