We recommend that women do not use our bathing facilities whilst pregnant. However, it is an individual’s choice and we recommend that you seek advice from your health professional if you are wanting to bathe.

The minimum age for the Mud Bath is 2.5 years, and for the Sulphur Spa is 6 months.
Most travelers can participate
Children are considered those aged 5 -15. Under 4s are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
This tour/activity will have a maximum of 15 travelers

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Enjoyable and relaxing

The staff here are super nice, welcoming and informative. All the spas were at a nice temperature not too hot or too cold. Even though it was raining it didn’t lessen the experience. I do recommend going during a weekday or not during school holidays as the spas felt a little cramped and to bring a unique towel as ours was touched/used due to confusion. Our skin was super soft afterwards but a little dry as expected I would definitely come back here again with more people.

Do not buy tickets via Viator

Please do not book via Viator. Terrible customer service. I booked 2 tickets via Viator and realised paid in USD on the next day. I checked the transaction and it was more than the original price in NZD. I thought i could get discount with Viator but they just confuse people with USD. I asked customer service to refund the discrepancy but it was rejected. What was the point that i booked the tickets in advance? It’s scam.

Excellent adventure with the whole Family! We had a great time with the mid and sulfur pools. The showers were very clean. It was nice to grab a quick bite and coffee afterward.

We had booked Hell's Gate before arriving in NZ and was a bit dubious about what it entailed. It turned out to be a fabulous experience, even though it was raining! It's a very organised place and the heated pools where you cover yourself with mud are a very pleasant place to be (not what we imagined)! After 20 minutes in the mud pool, we were able to shower very close by then relax in the thermal pools. It's a lovely environment with great, friendly staff. We have supurb memories of our time there. Would definitely recommend hiring one of their costumes as the smell does linger in the fabric despite soaking and washing, as recommended, but don't be put off.

Loved the experience of the mud/spa - however, call me a prude, there could have been warning that there were NO changing cubicles. It was a free for all and I saw things no one should have to see. Privacy is sometimes a priority for a lot of people especially when getting dressed/undressed...āue!

We had a lovely time, and the staff was wonderful, thank you! Last weekend would have been my 5th visit it's been a while since I was last there, and we were allowed to go into the mud pool as many times. The staff explains the new rules, and why we are only allowed 1-time mud bath for 20mins, due to health and safety. We capture some awesome photos, with our martial arts team covered in mud when we were last there. Thanks again!

The Landscape on the walk at Hells Gate was amazing. The mud spa was fun and the Sulphur pools were so relaxing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely morning.
