What To Expect

You're transferred from your accommodation in Rotorua after a personalized meet-and-greet and photo op with a Maori maiden dressed in traditional attire. Then learn some basic guidelines for entering the Mitai Maori Village, considered a sacred cultural and spiritual space to the Maori people.

In this bush setting of New Zealand's North Island, discover the history of the area once thriving with indigenous villages. You'll observe Maori warriors paddling a waka, or canoe, down the Wai-o-whiro stream, and visit the Fairy Spring for a look at freshwater eels, trout, and glowworms.

The evening's cultural entertainment includes a performance of games, songs, and dances including the haka, or war dance. Learn about Maori customs, including the art of ta moko (tattoo), woodcarving, and medicinal uses of native plants.

Savor a selection of succulent dishes during a traditional hangi feast, with foods cooked underground in an earthen oven. Your dinner includes New Zealand meats and poultry along with vegetables and fresh salads. Top off your meal with buffet-style desserts. Drinks are available for purchase from the full bar.

Afterward, you're dropped off at your hotel.

Mitai Maori Village

Enter the world of Mitai, and learn about the history of this area which was once flourished in villages. See our fierce warriors in traditional dress paddle an ancient warrior canoe (waka) down the Wai-o-whiro stream.

My family, young and old alike, were mesmerized by the ceremony, and very much appreciative of the opportunity to learn more about the Maori culture and traditions. Many thanks for opening your doors to guests, and for creating such a welcoming, safe space for Q&A! Bonus: excellent food!
Very disappointing

Not much food options for vegetarians . Only ok Part was cultural performance. Bus pickup which was offered was 40 mnts late while returning & when I complained as I had another booking at redwood tree walks one of the team member said very rudely that you should have bought your own vehicle. He also mentioned that welcome to Newzealand this is how we do here . When I said that I live in Newzealand & I believe people here are very punctual then he said so what u live in Newzealand but you are not a Newzelander , go home n sleep . Very shifty experience I would never recommend paying for getting insulted & being discriminated .
A good trip to do.

The food was good, the staff were friendly and the entertainment was enjoyable. The glow worms were an unusual sight.

This was fantastic. Picked up from hotel and arrived. Sitting with others on table was fun and nice to chat to other people. Dinner was delicious however I would suggest labeling the food (I thought the seafood chowder was a curry) as well as ensuring some foods don’t run out and are replenished. The performances and information about their culture was amazing. Very entertaining.

Stunning night out. A look into the past. The best cultural show I've ever seen. The umu kai, great taste and plenty of it. Jason (Can't prononce his maori name) was exceptional. The alcohol was well priced not your usual tourist ripoff. Highly recommended. And value for money
Good night

The show was the highlight and informative/entertaining/an absolute must-do if traveling NZ. The spring is beautiful - great to see in daylight and then also with glow worms at night. Amazing host Millie. The food was great - especially the lamb and stuffing.

Really enjoyed the experience. Reminded me of back when I was a child in a rural primary school when all of the content of Mitai village was taught at school. I used to love playing the stick games
