The minimum age for the Mud Bath is 2.5 years, and for the Sulphur Spa is 6 months.
Children are considered those aged 5 -15. Under 4s are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.

Bear mud bath and spa in Rotorua

The best place in Rotorua for mud bath, spa! Friendly stiff, clear information and instruction enabled us to enjoy our visit a very memory one. The shower area was spacious and with all important necessities.

It was great to walk around the reserve and experience the different types of natural geothermal springs. The mud pools and spas were great. I was disappointed to miss out on the carving experience. I specifically bought the experience for that.

An Amazing and Inspiring place. Loved every moment. The staff were very friendly, efficient and professional. I saw reviews about your clothes getting ruined etc. I decided to rent a towel and bathing suit. GREAT idea!!!! All of the suits are professional cleaned and there are several styles and sizes to chose from. (Women) Very easy and no washing or having to take back to your hotel wet clothes that should be washed. Easy changing areas, also, your personal items were safely secured. Go early! It gets busier as the day goes on. Highly recommend!

enjoyed the geothermal tour, the guide was very knowledgable and entertaining allowing us plenty of time to take pics and vids en route, the mud spa was fun with two separate oportunities to get muddy with the mud baths and mud foot pool though i would have loved it if the pool we went in was just filled with mud for a proper mud bath i was also lucky enough to see the adjacent gueyser go off when i was splashing around in the mud foot pool

This was an unreal experience! The geothermal activity was amazing to see up close and their were gorgeous trails along waterfalls. Words and pictures can’t do justice to how amazing it is in person. The carving was really cool and finishing with a mud bath was fantastic. I was with my 8 year old son and he had a blast!

Not worth it

Very poor experience. The smell was unbelievable ( i know is Mother Nature but can’t say it was pleasant). The reception staff was very nice but the 2 boys dealing with Mud pools were actually rude with my family. No proper changing room, looked like the city council swimming but at 10 time the price. Simply not worth the money for what you get, based on my personal experience.

Hells Gate was definitely an experience... to see all the mud pools and sulfur pools was nothing like i'd seen before. Then after the 2km walk, no better way to relax than in the mud pool yourself... such a great day

It was amazing to have a walk up close throughout entire property and see the earth is boiling underneath in various degrees which producing different degrees of hot mud everywhere. There was a rainforest with waterfall situated within this property and trees around there were vibrant and colour full. We tried mud spa and following soaking in sulfate pool. It was superb! We were glad we had done it. Highly recommend, otherwise; you have not really arrived in Rotorua.

Definitely try to book the 12:50pm shuttle so you can make it in time for the 1:30 guided tour. Our tour guide, Tu, was knowledgeable about both Maori history and legend, as well as geothermal science, and made the whole tour feel very personal. He also taught us how to carve after the tour. The area looks so weird and alien because of the hot pools and the surrounding sulfur oxide deposits, and is definitely worth experience. It was incredibly fun to cake yourself in the mud bath afterward, and the sulfur spa was a perfect way to end a long day. Make sure to rent a bathing suit and towel if you are doing a mud bath, and afterward pack your clothes in a small bag separate from the rest of your things or it'll make other clothes smell in your luggage.
