Michelle did a SUPER job!!

The day met all of our expectations and more. Michelle was an outstanding tour guide and made our day a success. My wife and I did not know the others in our group but we clicked very quickly and had a great time at all four winery’s and lunch. The island tour Michelle provided was helpful, she was loaded with quality information that enhanced our tour. We recommend this tour without reservation!

Wineries were somewhat disappointing

We visited 4 wineries. In terms of the quality of wine one was good ( Postage Stamp ), one was ok (Batch ) and 2 were awful. Whilst called the ‘premium’ tour we were given the ‘standard’ tasing when there was a choice. Batch for lunch was good. Guide (Mish )was pleasant but was still trying to find wineries to go to on the journey.

We are sorry you did not find the Wine good, the wines at Te Motu were premium as the wines at Cable Bay a mix of premium and estate, offerings at each place do change depending on what is open. Glad you liked Postage Stamp and Batch! In regards to finding vineyards to go to, all were pre-booked, one cancelled last minute the morning of the tour so we needed to find a fourth. Staffing on Waiheke is a big challenge and some times things do not go as planned so we do our best to recover as much as possible in the short time frame given.

Waiheke is marvelously hilly and has numerous microclimates supporting different wines. As tour director and Island resident, Dave has an abundance of knowledge of the island and the different wineries that you will visit. He is an excellent guide.

We had a fabulous day on this tour and it was great for meeting people whilst drinking plenty of lovely Waiheke wine! Mich was a lovely tour guide and really went into detail explaining Waiheke and the wine to us! Would definitely recommend to any one!

Poor value for money

Badly organised with no clear instructions which ferry to catch. Organisers talk about people missing the ferry and 3 did on our tour. Lol they turned up at exactly 10 and found the ferry full. Catch the quiet 8.15 or turn up early for the 9.00 ferry. The wine tasting was good and a lovely crowd but we didn’t want to spend nearly 1 1/2 out of 5 hours eating at an expensive winery restaurant at our expense.

Thank you for your review! The ferries are extremely busy due to high season and the cruise ships. We email all guests to get to the terminal at least 2 hours prior to the 10am departure. There are plenty of cafes on Waiheke to enjoy until the tour starts at 10.35/10.40am. We have 1.5 hours at lunch, 35 mins for the tasting and the rest to enjoy lunch. We have numours guests requesting this so they are not rushed through the day. In terms of cost, the menu is a la carte so you can purchase cheaper items or more full restaurant meals. Again most love the choices we make with our lunch stops. I apologise but maybe it’s better to come to Waiheke outside of our busy season so you do not have to line up for the ferries.

An efficient and fun way to experience several wineries

I was conflicted about whether this excursion would be worth the cost. After all, there is a less costly hop-on-hop off bus available. But from the first minute, it was obviously a perfect decision. Sheree brought the group alive. We had walk-in access to 4 wonderful wineries that were ready and prepared for our tastings. It was a very efficient way to experience a lot in a short time. By the end, our group was so tight knit that we continued our day together at a local establishment.

Great wine tour around Wahieke

Great tour! Takes you straight from the ferry terminal to 4 different wineries, our tour guide David was great and really added to the experience! We had a delicious lunch at Batch (included) and great wines all throughout. Wahieke is very scenic and you get to relax and be driven around to some of the best spots. Great value for money!

Transport dangerously and uncomfortably overcrowded Poor wineries. With exception of Mudbrick never heard of them Lunch overpriced. Chaotic service. My cold meal which was meant to be hot served when everyone else finished. Postage stamp dreadful. Just dumped wherever we could sit for45 minutes. Waste of money

Lovely times sharing a wine tasting with a lovely family, an engaged couple about to get married, and our wonderful tour guide, Mish. It went by so quickly! We visited a new winery (Postage Stamp) where we tried some innovative summer blends, Obsidian winery, Batch with its incredible High Tea selection and incredible view, and the famous Mudbrick Restaurant. An unforgettable experience with lovely people.

Visited four vineyards and stopped for lunch. First three vineyards were great. Sampled 3-4 wines per place with good pours. There was options at lunch to cater for all budgets. The fourth vineyard (highest on the Island) had three samplings of wine but it felt very rushed as if they didn’t want us there. Other than that the tour was unreal. Dave is a brilliant host

Hectic and chaotic

Honestly it wasn’t the guide’s fault, but the day just seemed rushed and a bit crazy. It was a full group (20+) ppl and over half of them were 21 year olds. They were late on the ferry and it just started the day off hectic. Bus was crowded and everyone was loud and obnoxious. Even if the guide wanted to tell us anything about the island she couldn’t have. By the 3rd stop the winemakers gave up on even trying to talk to our group. We had one piece of bread between 10am and 4 pm. Finally we got let off to go wherever for an hour in town. We had the best meal at the oyster inn. In the end, not really sure what $120 a person got us besides a very crowded very loud ride on a van and about 16 sips of wine.

Hi Melanie, we are extremely sorry you had a less than perfect day with us. Unfortunately due to covid my other driver was down so I had to last minute put everyone in my one bus. Due to numbers growing and staffing issues at the vineyard where we would usually have lunch at we had to move things to the village at a later time. I got the bread to try and full the gap until then. Again I am extremely sorry for this. If I can make it up to you by offering another more personal tour FOC please let me know as I would love to make it up to you. My apologies to you. Sheree

Advertised four or more wineries - we did three. David our guide was very personable. Wild Estate was lovely the other two were totally complacent about the tastings - used one glass for four wines. Not worth the money.
