What To Expect

, meet your guide and group at the National Archives Building—the neoclassical rotunda and columns of this DC landmark are especially dramatic at night.

Enjoy a comfortable seat on an air-conditioned coach as you make your way along the National Mall, and listen to insider stories about DC history, government and the landmarks you’ll see. Visit memorials to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and take time to walk around the Korean War Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial, the Vietnam Women’s Memorial, the World War II Memorial and the Iwo Jima Memorial.

You’ll have plenty of time to snap photos of the U.S. Capitol building and the White House, and the route route passes by the Washington Monument and many of the Smithsonian museums. Finish your tour in the heart of Washington, DC, near some of the city’s best restaurant, bars and attractions.

Sally and Godfrey were amazing! Sally knows her stuff. Godfrey is very protective of the bus and customers. Very friendly. Beautiful tour. Gave it a 4 instead of 5 is because I got lost trying to locate the Vietnam memorial and I was all by myself at night. While it was great to do a self tour.. maybe better directions to each monument. Wish we got to go to the Washington monument.

I enjoyed having Sally and Godfried as our tour guide and driver. They were both very friendly. Sally’s your was very informative and I enjoyed the pace. I liked the moonlit tour bc the monuments look spectacular in the spotlight. However I think I would’ve enjoyed taking a daytime tour more as there were few aspects of the tour that were hard to see and take good pictures of (i.e. Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, WWII Memorial). Overall I am happy with my experience.

I’ve been on other moonlight tours and this one was not my favorite. I wouldn’t do it again. Every time we stopped they wanted us to sit and listen to the woman talk forever when all we wanted to do was explore.

Our tour guide James is a living compendium of DC history. Considering myself a bit if a Capitol history buff, being an Army brat, 1having lived here in the late 70s and visiting annually, was delighted to learn more. Despite rain at the outset, the weather relented, making walk-throughs of the Memorials peasant. I was most moved at the WWII Memorial, especially recalling visiting the Dedication with my Father, Col. Amos Ewing, ret., a veteran of the European theater, Korea and Viet Nam. Our Driver Kris was most affable with his own fascinating history. Thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with him as we waited for stragglers to reboard at our walking stopovers. James and Kris: a great team.

Kris was a good driver. Kept things moving with road closures. James appeared to be a comedian, did not come across with the compassion of and dignity the memorials deserved. Difficult to understand on numerous occasions during the tour.

I was there in Sept when the temp was in 90+ degrees (80 at night). Seeing these at night was more comfortable. They split us up into two buses. Ours seemed newer than the other one and had AC and a bathroom. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Some people in the back of the bus had a hard time hearing him with the AC blasting as ended up muffled (Wah-wa-wa-wah). The guide would point out things that were not stopping, but many you could not see in the dark or as we drove by quickly. The advantage of seeing these sights at night was they dramatic lighting and less people to get in the way of your photos. We stopped at the WWII Memorial but strangely did not walks over to the Lincoln reflecting pool. Also drove by the Washington monument without getting out. Still got some shot of the Lincoln memorial and Washington Memorial in the distance. Got a fantastic sunset shot from the Capital towards the Lincoln Memorial. Could have done without the Korean War Memorial and instead go by the Supreme Court/ Library of Congress. Last stop was the White House and since my hotel was close by, they didnt make me get back on the bus. A very good night and worth the money.
