What To Expect

Meet the guide and the rest of the tour group at a central meeting point.

From the comfort of an air-conditioned coach, drive past the White House, the many Smithsonian museums, the National Mall and much more. Enjoy an entertaining and educational narrative from the expert local guide, with frequent photo-op stops of the historic and iconic landmark locations.

Also, experience guided walks around the United States Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. Along the way, learn about the history of these famous monuments and examine them up close.

This tour also features a scenic, seasonal boat cruise along the Potomac River (March 15 to October 16). We'll spend some time at beautiful Georgetown Waterfront Park for a lunch break, and after this, we re-board the bus to visit the Iwo Jima Memorial - with spectacular views of Arlington Cemetery and the Washington, D.C. landscape.

The tour concludes back at the original departure point.

  • Small carry-on bags are allowed, however it is recommended that you ravel lightly. Due to security concerns, the tour operator reserves the right to search any bags or purses you bring on board. Many of the attractions in Washington DC are equipped with metal detectors at the entrances. Traveling without bags or purses is recommended

  • Due to time restrictions, you cannot go inside any of the monuments, however you can spend about 15-20 minutes at each stop to enjoy up-close views

  • The boat cruise is seasonal from March 15 to October 15
  • Convertible buses switch from open-tops to glass-tops between Oct 15 - Mar 15 due to colder temperatures

This was my first time in Washington DC, The tour gave us an excellent overview of all the sites. Our tour guide, Brittany, was very personable and knowledgeable and answered all of our groups questions.

We were rushed the entire time, and the guide seemed frustrated most of the time. It was perfect for an overview, but we would have liked a little more time. I think it would have been much better if the group was smaller. Lesson learned.

Chris was a Wonderful Guide. He was fun as well as extremely knowledgeable about the City of Washington and it’s history! My husband and I did the six hour tour with the boat ride. This is definitely the way to experience DC!

For a start the tour guide was very knowledgeable and amusing. Most of my group, my wife, my daughter and my friend have been to Washington before so you might say this was a refresher tour. The guide was precise in his explanation of the sites. In some cases we had enough time but in other times we were rushed. I took off a star because of the dining experience. The choice of restaurants was okay, a little on the pricey side but I almost choked on my $20 hamburger to make the deadline. Another 10 minutes would get you that 5th star.

This tour was a great way to experience DC. While I wish I had more time at certain locations, namely the MLK memorial, I enjoyed the tour overall. They were accommodating and I was able to add a person the day before the tour. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn about DC! :)

I really appreciated the tour. We saw a lot of monuments and places and the bus was very comfortable. But sadly, the guide was speaking so quickly that I only understand a few words of what he was saying.

I had an amazing time in DC. I took 3 tours and loved everyone of them. The 6 hour DC Monuments and cruise on the Potomac was the last one I took. Joey and Maggie were awesome. Evan was a fabulous tour guide. The bus was great, clean and comfortable and plenty of bottled water for our 95 degree day. I have done several tours through Viator. They have great service except for one major issue, thier tour meeting location description is never accurate or detailed. This time the address given was a loading dock for some other company. The actual meeting place was the next street over and there was no signage as to a tour meeting place, just 2 employees with the tour company name on their shirts...try to find that in a crowd! We were there 45 minutes early, yet nearly missed the tour. This is the 2nd time this has happened with Viator. Luckily I was able to call them and they described where to walk to. It would have been so simple if they were to put those details on the printed ticket receipt, not an address that had nothing to do with the tour. There were other people in our group wandering around with the same issue.

We had a great time, we visited so many sites. There is quite a bit of walking, we did it in 90+ degree weather! Take an umbrella to cover your body in case it’s hot. Our tour guide Joey was fantastic and so was our driver Robin.

The driver and guide were excellent. The sites were great to see. However, while Viator lists the meetup spot as 701 Pennsylvania Ave, and though we waited there early, the tour left without us. They boarded in a different area. The dispatcher didn’t look for us. 10 people were left behind and missed a seeing the Capitol building- one of the biggest highlights of the tour. Instead, the bus came back 30 mins later and picked us up. How do you miss 10 people? They should have had a list and contacted people they couldn’t find or correct the meeting location. Also, while the sites were great to see, we were rushed for time at lunch and didn’t get 1 hour, but instead 20 mins. Not enough time to sit and eat.
