What To Expect

Meet your guide and small group of no more than 24 people on Queens Wharf in central Wellington in time for a 10am departure. After listening to the safety briefing, learn how to operate your electric bike and enjoy time to practice in a safe area before heading out.

Once you’re feeling comfortable, saddle up for a fun bike tour of Wellington, and follow your guide along the Wellington Waterfront. Glide along the seafront, passing the lively port and harbor, and the beaches of Oriental Bay. Continue along the Miramar Peninsula and leave the bustle of the city behind as you cycle along the scenic coast. Pause along the way at a local café, where you’ll have chance to enjoy a coffee or purchase sandwiches and cakes (own expense), before looping back towards the city.

Your tour ends around 2pm or 5.30pm back in central Wellington.

Great way to see and travel around Wellington. Very friendly guide (Kali) who took us on an electric bike guided tours around the city. Very enjoyable.

Dillan was an amazing guide!! I love the way he tells stories, and as many times as I’ve seen the word Aotaora, (probably spelled it wrong) I didn’t fully remember it until he told me the story of how that name was given to this land. He never rushed me, let me take in scenery, helped me capture awesome videos and pics, and was all around really pleasant. I highly recommend this tour.

Calli did very well on her first tour. She made sure we were all safe and waited for everyone to catchup. Gave great info and snippets about the scenery. Stopped enough times to t add me in the views/take pictures. Bikes were comfortable and well maintained and instruction on how to use an e-bike was explained well. The correspondence with them beforehand was answered promptly. Would thoroughly recommend Switched On Bikes for bike hire and guided bike tours.

Ryan and Stephanie, who lead the group of people we had just met, were very thoughtful and informative on the ride along the coast of Wellington. They kept an eye on us, encouraged us riding up the hill and coping the the wind. It was quite a hard ride at times due to the wind and the hill at the end, but was managed by them very well. It was thoroughly enjoyable.
E-bike tour was exceptional

We had a great time on our e-bike tour with Switched sn Bikes. We got to see a lot of the city along the harbor and Dillon stopped and provided commentary often. Dillon and Holly were both very safety conscious. E-bikes rock!

Beautiful scenery! Riding an e-bike through the outskirts of Wellington (beyond the airport) is a great experience - a good way to learn about the city while enjoying an outdoor activity. Weather can play an important role. The guide was fantastic.

Jack our tour guide was excellent and explained everything. The tour was safety focused and conducted at the right pace for the group. The electric bikes were great and helped us get up the steepest of hills with ease. Would thoroughly recommend.

Great bike ride round the bay, past the airport and up to the Peninsular. The extra power of an electric bike, when needed, was very useful with the head wind, when you turned a corner or when climbing up the hills. Would definitely recommend the tour as well as an electric bike, you don't have to use the extra power, but it's useful to have it to hand.
